On the directives of Engineer Shabir Ahmad, CEO Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco), drive against illegal use of electricity is continued throughout Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In this connection Pesco Surveillance Wapda House teams under the supervision of Director Tahir Moeen checked different areas of Peshawar, Khyber and Swat circles.

During the checking in the areas of Peshawar Cantonment and Landi Arbab Sub-Divisions over 70 domestic and commercial consumers were nabbed for using illegal electricity. Most of the meters were found tampered while dozens direct connections were also nabbed. Immediate replacement orders of the tampered meters were issued and letters has been issued for registration of FIRs against direct hook holders.

Similarly, in the areas of Khyber Circle, during the checking in the areas of Pabbi-1 sub division 24 connections including Khushnasib Hotel Pabbi, Malik Electronics Pabbi involved in power pilferage were nabbed. Furthermore, 21 more domestic and commercial consumers involved in power pilferage in Bari Kot and Kanju Sub-Divisions of Swat Circle were also nabbed. Orders for taking departmental action against the responsible meter readers were also has been issued.

Meanwhile, Director Surveillance, Tahir Moeen has said that drive against illegal use of electricity and direct hooks will continue in all circles and warned the consumers to stop power pilferage in the larger interest of the nation, otherwise strict action will be taken against electricity stealers.
